1 Nantwich Town - Home on Sat Apr 22 2017, 21:21

Firstly, let's get the boring, down-to-earth shot of realism out of the way. Judging by the celebrations, by me as well, the Man from Mars would have thought that we'd won the league and everything else as well. All we've achieved is the home tie in the first part of the play-offs.

In the first period, Nantwich were by far the better team, showing us why they enjoy their reputation for being a good footballing side, and fully merited their one goal lead at the break.

But what a transformation after the break ! Whether by luck rather than by judgement, only Gary knows but, with Brad being injured and Jordan's introduction, our tactics changed. We were now playing football and looking far more dangerous and we could feel that the goals would come. And come they did with Luke's penalty and three headers. Perhaps with this being Nantwich's fourth game in eight days but they could not live with us.

We now go into Monday night's game with confidence high. But Workington themselves are in a rich vein of form, having won nine and drawn two of their last twelve games. Even with their long trip down from Cumbria on Monday afternoon, they must not be under-estimated.

Looking further ahead, it is good news that Matt has committed himself to us for next season. I was half-expecting him to move on to bigger and better things but his vote of confidence in SFC is very welcome.
