What a perfect way to prepare for our biggest game in recent years ! A first half-hour scintillating display against a previous in-form team has buoyed up everyone's confidence for the visit of Northampton.

Every single player was on top form and each one could have been MOTM but, not surprisingly, Luke won most votes, particularly for his second goal.

Fair play to the Workington fans and their team for applauding them. They must all have wondered what had hit them ! The long return trip to Cumbria must have seen even longer.

Credit also to referee Garratt who had a good game, even though her booking of Leon was a bit harsh.

With Northampton having lost their last four league games AND if we play like we did today, then our first-time entry into the third round may, just may, not seem just like a dream !

Yesterdays game was played with key players not in the team like Chris Lait, so I'm almost certain that it will have given the management team a selection headache before next weeks big cup match.

I know we shouldn't get too carried away, but could we really make the BBC wish they'd chosen our match as their live game next Sunday?

And yesterdays performance in the 1st half must have been good as I even saw TCP smiling at half-time, and that's as rare an event as Wolves winning Laughing

What a dream result! Would never have expected we would have racked up our biggest win in the NPL pre-match.

Once Benbow converted a penalty after Dodd was tripped, there seemed to be only one outcome as their defence was all at sea for a while. Dodd had quite comfortably his best game of the season and was involved again for the second goal - he should have taken a shot himself but eventually Brown recycled well for Archer to head in his first for the club!

After that we were all over them with Duggan scoring after their defence again was static, Brown converted at the far post and then Benbow scored the pick of the lot, bringing a delightful Broadhurst ball under control and volleying it into the opposite corner of the net.

It was all over then, and I'm pleased we kept them quiet after the break as well, to avoid another Buxton scenario!

All in all a superb day and well done to all the players and management team.
