I also went for Billingham just ahead of Drew, but that's the best I've seen Drew play in a long time. He really gave their defence problems and it was a great header for his goal.

I did have my doubts when he went straight back in the side but he's done nothing yet to warrant his removal from the starting XI.

Whatever that course in China was it seems to have worked a minor miracle.

Poole's website is promising a "soundbite£ from their manager shortly. Should be interesting...

http://www.pooletownfc.co.uk/

Meanwhile, the thread on yesterday's game from their forum. Not too much post-match analysis yet...

http://samspud.proboards.com/thread/6886/mlt-stourbridge

It was like the old days yesterday in the second half. Me, the NoG and the Bearded Wonder (no longer bearded) behind the Church End goal. Took me right back to twenty years ago...

Agree with every word that TRM has posted re the game, an excellent team display with many good individual performances.
Paul McCone was a steadying influence at the back and allowed wurzel to be used as an attacking winger.
Poole are good team and for 30 mins it was a close game, but the goals either side of the break did for them.Their defence started to look shaky and we controlled the game.
A good confidence boost to all players & staff, onwards and upwards.

For the 3rd game running, Ben won the MotM. He received 13 votes, Sean 11 , Drew 4 and Fitz 1.
Jane won the wine.

Will be missing on Tues, so Dave has kindly agreed to run the MotM.

At least Brian's missing a game because of a nice holiday.

Whilst some of us missed Saturday's game due to watching an instalment of "How to bugger up a commanding lead". Rolling Eyes

From the Bournemouth Echo...

Anybody got any idea why our first goal "should never have been allowed to stand"?

No, me neither.

The article states that he thought it was "clearly offside"

However, Killick thought his charges had enjoyed the better of the first-half exchanges and called into question the hosts’ opening goal, claiming it was “clearly offside”.

He said: “Strangely enough, we played well in the first half. Stourbridge created very little and we looked good going forward but they got a goal which should never have been allowed to stand.

What a tosser! He should have concentrated on his own players who rapidly lost focus and interest after the second and third goals rather than on the officialls, which is certainly what he spent the first half doing.

None of their players even appealed for offside and how he could have seen an offside from there is beyond me.

Couldn't see anything wrong with the goal myself. If he was that convinced, given the fuss he made over that throw-in, then I reckon he may well have literally exploded (and I do mean literally!).

The funniest thing about the throw was that after all the jumping up and down from the Poole bench we then went and threw it straight out for a goal kick!

Now he says there were THREE offsides in the build up!
